June Review

This will be a quick review, and we're half way through the year already with no major achievements.

A big list of running events so I'll go with dot points:

  • Brisbane 10km - a good result covered in the trip report
  • New Puma Nitro Deviate Elite 3 shoes 15% off
    • The plan is to use them for Gold Coast half marathon
    • Chose instead of Fast-R 3 which may be less comfortable and better for shorter distance
  • Lewis Park 17:40 with Adios Pro 3 again
    • Felt more normal this time but really scratched up my brand new socks
  • A faster long run 17km on King's Birthday public holiday instead of the usual Sunday
    • A transition week towards half marathon training
  • Berwick Waters parkrun jog for my 400th event
  • 20km Sunday at 4:05/km in Invincible shoes
  • New fourth pair of Puma Magnify Nitro 2 for $100
    • I'm still wearing three pairs of shoes past 1000 kilometres, including another Magnify Nitro 2
  • Marriott Waters parkrun jog again
  • 20km Sunday at 4:03/km in Zoom Fly 5
    • Had a bit of heel rubbing and bleeding just at the end
  • Two weeks in a row I had serious adductor pain and could hardly lift my right leg off the ground
    • With a couple of easy running days it started to feel better each time
    • The second instance was worse and I was even worrying about Gold Coast participation
  • Dorset Reserve parkrun jog with very sore legs
  • 20km Sunday at 4:06/km in Invincible with improving leg injuries

The shares have avoided any major drama this month, even with some new trouble between Iran and Israel. My account balance finally hit the next major milestone, although not quite back to my all time high from about 2021. Many other expenses though like: ATO quarterly bill nearly $2000, Java exam $400, Japan holiday, plumber.

The quiet mid year of sports continues and now the NBA finals have concluded. I watched a couple of the games although as a Seattle Sonics supporter I didn't really know what to think of Oklahoma City winning.

Some small changes on the to do list:

  • Phone
    • Galaxy A56 upgrade
    • Quick data transfer and installation, but had to painfully login and reconfigure every app again
    • Authenticator, Garmin watch, and wallet were the worst
  • Report
  • Running
    • Auckland half marathon seems expensive for the effort
    • Singapore half marathon I'm undecided about planning a larger Asia trip around it
  • Winter Holiday
    • Japan planning is making slow progress
    • Got Shinkansen tickets and travel insurance as the largest remaining expenses
  • Summer Holiday
    • Not sure about Auckland or Singapore as above
    • Maybe look for some other cheap option locally or international
    • Brisbane booked for 3 nights during the new year period

Not much good news for work, missed out on another promotion due to stupid technicalities. I paid for the Java exam but have been distracted by holiday planning so might have to wait until after I return.

That's it for this month.
