Headed off to New Orleans, with a short detour back to Atlanta airport. Sadly New Orleans was the only airport without good public transportation, it was an effort to even find the information desk at the airport to find that out. So opted for a taxi instead of spending a couple of hours connecting buses and streetcars, the driver seemed reasonable enough but for some reason he took this really strange route through a bunch of back streets. It made no sense either because of how slowly he had to drive due to the number of intersections, I was just hoping we were going in the right direction. We even almost ran into the side of a car that didn't stop for a stop sign going through an intersection. The taxi price is fixed, so it wasn't like he was running up the meter either.
I had told him the address before we departed and even offered him a printout with the address to confirm, but he was like "No, No, I got this, I know exactly where it is". Well, turns out he didn't hear me correctly and took us to 3626 instead of 3636. Lucky of course the correct hotel was just next door...
All of that travel took up most of the day, leaving just enough time for a night visit to Bourbon Street, the best time to visit. There is a street car line that is supposed to run all the way into the city through the garden district, but it was stopping just outside our hotel and then turning back the other way. As it turns out they are doing maintenance the rest of the way and you have to jump on a shuttle bus across the street, but there was of course no signs up to indicate this.
Bourbon Street was pretty cool in the evening, heaps of people walking up and down, the only downside is they walk really slow and I kept getting discarded bead necklaces caught in the soles of my Nike Frees. But without a doubt the best part of Bourbon Street (a miniature version of Las Vegas Boulevard) is the return of the Frozen Alcoholic Beverage machines! Slurpees with alcohol, you can't beat that. I think I got the Strawberry daquiri with rum, I was just sad I wasn't around long enough to try all the flavours, probably about ten to fifteen in total. Now if only they could make a store that sold these things and frozen yoghurt.

For some reason the tourists out that night included about 20% San Diego Chargers fans and 30% Venezuelans.
