I started the month off at the Gold Coast, the only time it wasn't freezing cold. After running at the Gold Coast I was out of action for two weeks with a damaged foot, since then I've had numerous good and bad days but still not close to a full recovery. A couple of the good days were the five kilometre races at the new Jells Park park run, where I somehow managed to run around 19:30 for consecutive weekends, finishing in 6th place both times. Besides that I still can't run at full speed any other time and haven't been able to do any runs longer than ten kilometres, so not surprisingly it's been difficult to maintain my fitness and weight as well.
My shares have been just about the same, I got a couple of half yearly dividends which was an unexpected bonus and invested another $8000 in the banking sector. I had almost got back to where I started before another bad week hit, but if not for one particularly bad outcome I'd be ahead right now.
I got two baking projects completed, which is about double my recent output. The banana donuts turned out pretty good, so I'll need to start making some other varieties like vanilla and pineapple!
Nothing too much to say about work, only two weeks until holidays is probably the best bit. We are just beginning a restructure but so far it's been small and had little impact. I might be doing a little bit more C# and possibly SSIS, which may be useful skills to have beginner level experience in.
I went to the Manchester City vs. Real Madrid soccer match at the MCG, I skipped the other two and luckily got the best one, with a crowd of over 99,000 people. The first half was exciting and had a number of goals, but it died off a bit at the end when a lot of substitutions were made. Still, it's as good as you could expect from a pre-season friendly match.
My to do list hasn't made much progress as I've been putting way too much time into the minor details for the Europe holiday:
- Europe Holiday
- Finished all the bookings
- The soccer tickets are all very expensive, even the championship teams are like 40 pounds
- Got some decent tickets for a Tottenham match
- $5500 each for hotels, soccer ticket and travel so far, I'm running out of money
- Tax Return
- ANZ didn't take out any tax from bank interest that was something like $1000 or more
- So now I have to pay about $350
