The beginning to the second Europe trip started at Thursday 8pm Australia time and finally ended 32 hours later, at Friday 7pm UK time when I reached the hotel in London's docklands district.
The first flight was better than I expected, 8.5 hours to KL where I got about 4 hours of intermittent sleep, and a bit more while waiting at the airport. The second flight was excruciating, 13 hours that seemed to take forever, I got a bit of sleep in the first couple of hours but then time seemed to stand still - I think it even went in reverse at one point. I was too exhausted to watch anything on the entertainment system to try and pass the time, although there wasn't a very good selection anyway - and only one Will Smith movie, I Am Legend.
The woman at the immigration desk seemed highly suspicious for some reason, she asked a whole series of questions before finally giving the all clear.
Waiting at the underground platform for the train there was some unclear announcement which sounded like it might impact the train lines I was planning to change over to, so rather than risk it I made a different plan that involved three train lines rather than two, making the day go on even longer. The clunky Piccadilly line from the airport to the city is the worst, so many stops along the way and took almost an hour by itself.
Just as I got out of the train to start walking to the hotel than rain started up! - lucky it was only a few minutes away.
