Jason suggested to go on one of the sightseeing tours, but I was a little skeptical because of how insistent they are on the street to get you on their tour. My thought is that if they were good, and had a good reputation, they wouldn't need to be like this. Also we had maybe seen half of the locations they would be going to. Anyway, I'll need to research this in case I'm ever there again.
So with a few hours to kill, we went to see Saw VI first. Cinemas are pretty much the same, as you'd expect, and Saw was pretty much the same as the previous few, as you'd expect. After that just spent some time looking around the shops and souvenir places in Hollywood - I'm still not sure how I ended up with no souvenirs at all from LA at the end of it.
The airport terminal in LA for Virgin America and V Australia (and also Alaska Airlines I think) is just terrible. It's pretty old and crappy, and what they call a food court once you're in through security is just an overpriced Burger King, a Starbucks and one seafood restaurant.
Although I kind of ran out of things to do on the last day, there was plenty more I could have done, such as:
- Spend a proper day at the beach: Santa Monica, Venice, Marina del Rey and Malibu
- Go to some other areas of LA: Pasadena and Long Beach
- Head further down the coast to Newport Harbour and Laguna Beach (THE OC!)
- Go to Runyon Canyon (park) and Griffith (park and observatory)
- Go on a sightseeing tour!?
- Go to Palm Springs
