I did not do any baking again this month, once I get fit and healthy and exercising again, if ever, then I will resume the baking as well.
It's now more than two months and I still can't do any running due to the ongoing leg pain. It's not persistent through the day and night like it was at it's worst, but it's definitely still present at random times. This is definitely the most frustrating injury I've had because it's unclear how or why it happened, why it hasn't healed yet and how much longer it's going to take. I have slowly been able to increase the intensity of exercise bike riding, so at least that it something. I haven't done much swimming for a few weeks though - ever since I lost both ear plugs in the pool actually!
Since the share market has stabilised a bit I purchased two more before the dividend period. The first went down immediately, like just about every other purchase I've made, but the second actually started up, and both are making a small profit at the moment. I diversified a little more with these ones - one financial services company and one insurance company.
I took a day off to watch the NFL super bowl like usual, sadly the Denver Broncos won to end a season that was not bad, although there wasn't a lot of competitive teams at the top end. The NBA all-star was the best in a while - the competitions that is, the actual game itself is no longer worth watching.
Due to the health problems noted above I haven't been able to progress items from my to do list again, things such as holidays and running events are quite uncertain for the moment. I did take another look at the requirements for working in the USA and sadly it sounds even more impossible than I remember it being. The UK appears to be more realistic, even more so if you had a UK passport of course.
Work has been quite interesting as a number of people have quit or are in the process of leaving. It's a bit early to see the outcome of that yet, it's good that I will have a lot of work to do I suppose, but I'm concerned that I will be stuck doing too much maintenance and support work. Sadly there also doesn't appear to be any obvious path for a promotion or good job change opportunities to gain from this.
That's it for this month, hopefully things get better in March...or April.
- Books
- The Regulators by Stephen King
- All the names were familiar, apparently it's a "mirror" version of Desperation
- Interesting but ran out of momentum a little
- 6 out of 10
- The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King
- Great story about a girl lost in a forest
- 9 out of 10
- Movies
- The Big Short
- Too long and not well explained
- I didn't like that it was narrated
- 4 out of 10
- Music
- None - the music from Forza Horizon 2 was disappointing
- TV
- Skins Season 7
- The first two episodes with Effy were good
- The next two episodes with Cassie were boring again
- The last two episodes with Cook were alright
- 4 out of 10
- The Challenge - Battle Of The Bloodlines
- I ddn't like the theme and two people getting eliminated at once
- Half of the cast were just related to the contestants, not great either
- 8 out of 10
- Ballers
- Basic show without much depth, but still entertaining
- Everything usually works out well for all the characters
- 7 out of 10
- Video Games
- Xbox 360
- Forza Horizon 2
- The same formula as the first one, lots of small races
- 10 categories to repeat each race with - just an annoying grind
- I finished the main game quickly, but a decent challenge on medium difficulty
- 7 out of 10
