With that taken care of, it was time to head off to Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea vs. West Bromwich Albion. The most direct train route was unavailable due to maintenance, but thankfully like New York and any other big city (excluding Melbourne), the rail grid supports failover by having intersecting train lines. So I had to get off a bit further from the stadium, but there was enough Chelsea blue shirts, and growing numbers of police patrols, to follow to know that I was going in the right direction.

The Stamford Bridge stadium was fairly modern and clean, although it was located between rows of suburban apartment buildings on each side, rather than having had a large piece of land cleared out for it. I think that gives a nice local feel (despite the costs involved in running a Premier League team, and buying a ticket to go to the match). There was a massive queue to get into the store before the game, which seems a bit surprising to me since people could turn up to the store any other day of the week. I went through the store, but it was a bit hard to get around and get a good look at things, in the accessories section there was sadly no magnets, only key rings.
My seat was alright, towards the front of the top stand, along the sideline. Chelsea, lead up front by star striker Fernando Torres, weren't too impressive and even went a goal down due to a defensive mistake. They should have been 2-0 down but for a terrible pass on a fast break turnover, that even I could have completed. Being down a goal to what the fans considered an inferior team didn't go down well, but they were saved late by a couple of Chelsea goals. Final score was Chelsea 2 West Bromwich 1.
