Back to the usual with the February review.
Another month of running without any races coming up. I had a sore foot for a few days but thankfully it cleared up. Went another month without buying any new shoes, just a few more pairs of Feetures socks which are light but good quality.
- Birdsland over 18 minutes but somehow a course PB
- Berwick Waters a surprise 17:22 and best ever parkrun time, didn't even finish first
- Karkarook about 17:30 and a course PB
- Birdsland just under 18 minutes for another course PB, but still quite slow
A bad month for shares thanks to a range of factors:
- Following USA down due to technology shares and AI in particular
- Generally bad Australian half year reporting season
- Many changes to USA tariff rules
- Iran and USA at war
I'm still trying to get on top of expenses for a bit longer:
- House appliances and furniture - $2750 but nearly over
- Tax quarterly payment - $3250
- VPN subscription - $175
- Washing machine installation - $500
I got to watch some of the Superbowl during work, a very slow first half but was probably happy for Seattle to win this one over New England, but was fine with either as they are my two favourite teams. I didn't get to see much of the Winter Olympics due to the time difference, and also having no idea what was going to be broadcast live on TV.
The to do list is still mostly house things for a bit longer.
- Holidays
- Brisbane report
- Japan is more likely for winter due to prices - in particular with possible fuel increases
- House
- A few small maintenance jobs required - just done the plumbing so far
- Gas switched on February 6
- NBN switched on March 2 - but haven't plugged in the modem yet
- Need to figure out how to use all the other stuff
- Air conditioning
- Dishwasher
- Doorbell panel
- Heating
- Internet and rooms with fitted ethernet cables
- Oven
- Security alarm
- Washing machine
- Running
- Maybe just adding Singapore marathon for early December
A bad month at work with the team getting downsized and not much to look forward to in the short term, also have to go through another round of annual reviews and promotion attempts.
That's it for this month.
