April Review

 The April review.

A couple of recurring news commentaries for the miscellaneous section.

Firstly the near daily reporting of 'pain' whenever interest rates are increased and 'relief' when they aren't.  It's a narrow view when many people took on mortgages they couldn't afford and others contributed to continually pushing up house price to ridiculous levels. There's also a large percentage of the population who don't have a mortgage or can't even afford a deposit who stand to benefit from better savings rates, but that's not a good news story.

Secondly is the repeated reports of these mysterious 'critical worker shortages' in a wide range of industries. How they reached critical levels nobody seems to know. Are these businesses doing critical work or are they excess to requirements. It doesn't seem to matter because the solution to all problems is  a quick fix migration to fill all the gaps.

That's enough news complaints for a while hopefully, on to the usual.

Still no races this month but some good running at parkrun with three times under 17:30, more than 15 seconds below my previous best times. Also had a short trip to Shepparton during the Easter weekend with a new event at Louis Hamon park. It wasn't all good news, finishing the month with some hamstring and foot soreness.

The shares were pretty quiet, not really going in either direction but the next drop is just starting to gain momentum at the end of the month. It's good not have an investment loan any more.

The NBA playoffs have started but I don't really have much interest in the teams. By process of elimination probably New York and Golden State. I would have picked Phoenix for Kevin Durant, but don't like Chris Paul. We've also got a new AFL team in Tasmania coming in 2028. I don't have a problem with the choice, but having a bye every week doesn't provide much benefit, and there's already too many bad teams every year.

The to do list is still stuck in neutral.

  • Holiday
    • Got general approval for a holiday in August
    • Still trying to find something that's not ridiculously expensive
  • New computer
    • Still haven't ordered yet

Nothing much to report about work, have a never end backlog of tasks. Only a few more weeks taking the bus at least.

That's it for this month.
