February Review

Running late for February.

It might be safe to say this is the last covid / lockdown / lockout update.

  • Quarantine camp due by the end of the month !
  • Hospital cases under 500 - but still major restrictions
  • QR codes still not removed completely
  • Masks also not removed completely - but in most places
    • The hospitality and retail works still suffer
  • Other events to take over the daily news
    • Russia Ukraine war
    • Queensland and NSW floods

Another month of running over, no races for the year so far. Just another four parkruns with new PB times, but I'll be happy when I get to retire this streak after about five more events - the travel combined with running low 18 minutes each week is a bit much. I had a couple of close calls with the You Yangs hills and a very strong wind at Berwick Waters but just survived.

Just more bad news in the sharemarket with the Russia situation, once again lost months or years of progress - depending how far back you want to go in the charts. Take the high point from 2007 and the market has improved 5% in 15 years. The USA top 500 is nearly triple over the same time...

I didn't get to watch much of the superbowl due to work distractions, but it wasn't one of the better games. Not a lot else happening except for some Winter Olympics - if you can work out when the events are going to be on TV. The prime time session always seemed to be hours of repeating what had already happened during the day - particularly if an Australian was involved - not great coverage. Some of the biathlon events were good.

Made little progress on the to do list.
  • Gold Coast flight booked - almost out of money so haven't booked a hotel yet
  • Running Review done - but not the other 2021 and 2022 updates

Back to the normal routine at work - only a few more weeks to enjoy working from home. Splitting time between two projects basically means trying do 50% more work, as the main project requires just as much attention as usual.

That's it for this month.
