June Review

It's the June Review.

I thought the ankle injuries were getting gradually better, then another set back late in the month and almost back to the beginning - no more running during the week for a while again. Before that resurfaced I did get a few good runs in:

  • Traralgon 10km
    • Started a bit too fast, first half under 4:00/km then died badly
    • 39:20 for 10km, probably more like 40:00 pace
    • 14th place
  • Lilydale Lake park run
    • Another 19:00 finish, just missed a PB again
  • Sri Chinmoy Albert Park
    • Another painful second lap even though I started slower this time
    • 39:10 for 10km, probably more like 39:40 pace
    • 24th place
  • Studley Park park run
    • The leader went the wrong way and I followed him off course
    • Slipped over on a tricky downhill and had many cuts and bruises
    • Ended up running 5.3 kilometres instead of 5 kilometres!

Traralgon.

Traralgon finish line.

I changed around a few of my shares, selling some under performing ones and cashed in a couple for a small (dwindling profit). So far selling JB Hi-Fi and RXP has been a good result. Buying has been mixed, two good and two bad.

Nothing much happening in sports except the NBA playoffs were put out of their misery. I didn't want to see Golden State win 16-0 but didn't care otherwise, just want to see some different teams next year but doesn't look likely at this stage. Next month will be the Tour De France and then the Premier League is back!

A few minor items on my to do list:
  • Anime
    • Haven't watched any for a long time so did some research for some to watch
    • 2014 - Tokyo Ghoul
    • 2015 - School-Live! and Death Parade
    • 2016 - Erased and Kiznaiver
    • 2017 - Attack On Titan
  • Holiday
    • I might be able to start planning some dates now, at least that's a start...
  • Phone upgrade
    • No Galaxy S5 in stock so had to get the A5 instead
    • Had to get a new Nano SIM for the device, otherwise an easy upgrade
    • Good battery life so far, but the phone is a bit bigger
  • Running calendar
    • Did another search but didn't find many good local events
    • The Alice Springs and Townsville flights were quite expensive
  • Windows Live Mail
    • It would randomly crash for weeks at a time, so ditched it for Opera
    • Still have a few remaining accounts that use my old ISP email address...

We were asked to work some extra hours during the week or on the weekend to get development complete for testing - although we're just about running out of work it's more of a timing thing. I think I have got about three days of extra leave out of the process, so hopefully I get the credit for that. It looks like the project may be delayed until the end of the year, but I'm not sure yet if we are all required until then - if so it would make holiday planning much easier to arrange!

That's it for this month:
  • Books
    • The Talisman by Stephen King
      • 70%
      • Just want to get it finished...
  • Movies
    • Get Out
      • A good horror/mystery movie and a few surprises towards the end
      • 7 out of 10
    • The Fate Of The Furious
      • Nothing new
      • 4 out of 10
  • Music
    • Crystal Castles at The Forum
      • The set list was good - I like the 4th album better than the 3rd
      • The new lead singer wasn't the best though
      • 5 out of 10
  • TV
    • American Crime Season 3
      • Disappointing compared to the previous two seasons
      • Too many unrelated story lines
      • 4 out of 10
    • Prison Break Season 5
      • Better than my low expectations
      • 6 out of 10
    • Quantico Season 2
      • So bad
      • It seemed like the second half was written by a different person
      • 3 out of 10
    • The Challenge Season 30 - Champs vs Pros
      • Only bad thing was the selection of women on the champs team
      • 8 out of 10
  • Video Games
    • PC
      • River City Ransom Underground
        • Started over and made it up to the final level
