My ankle injury has been a problem for nearly two months now and limited my running to weekends at best - maybe even that is not advisable. I had two podiatrist sessions that didn't recommend anything useful and didn't find any obvious problem.
Somehow I managed to get through 14 slow kilometres at the Red Bull Wings For Life night race before being caught by the pace car. I was 'running' in pants and a jumper so it wasn't ideal - but at least it helped with the cold temperature at night - the rain stayed away until the very end which helped too. Seeing the signs for Blackburn and Springvale Road after starting in Hawthorn was my highlight.

I was disappointed to miss out of the Great Ocean Road half marathon, more so having paid for it, but wrote about that more here. I did manage one good park run in 19:30 to finish the month at least.
I opened up a second investment account with CMC to see how they compare with ANZ - for one their brokerage fee is only $11 instead of $20 to $25 which is a bit better - still seems like a lot of money for a simple internet transaction though. I thought I was having a good week on the sharemarket when I made $5000 in two days, then lost close to $10000 the next two days the following week! Most of that was thanks to Vita Group shares tanking, but at least Appen recovered after I patiently held them for a year - and almost sold them several times!
There's not much happening in sports except for the NBA playoffs which have been a big disappointment - not only was the finals rematch inevitable there wasn't even any excitement along the way. Even worse is all of the stupid LeBron vs. Michael Jordan articles that nobody cares out or asked for.
I don't think I achieved much notable on my to do list this month:
- USA Visa
- I almost forgot about this, but checked in and didn't win :(
- I might try again for next year
At work we've been asked to work extra hours to meet deadlines, even though I foresee us having nothing to do in a few weeks once we get this backlog done and just wait for testing outcomes. At least I might get a couple of extra days off in the mean time, hopefully it can be combined with my annual leave as part of a holiday - if I ever get to take one again...
That's it for this month.
