I had more trouble with my back early in the month, but it think it's close to recovered at last now. Since that had settled down I'd had enough of waiting and finally tried running again for the first time in about four months, completing a park run in 20:30 for five kilometres, although I really died at the end. My fitness is completely gone, but getting close to twenty minutes is not the worst outcome, but I definitely don't have any endurance beyond that.
For a couple of days after the run I didn't feel so bad, except my legs were just really sore in general. Then I tried another short run around the streets and my leg pain was right back again. So that was it for my first comeback, and now another couple of weeks off at least.
Nothing new has happened in the share market really, just the usual up and down, some dividends came through, but I haven't made any more purchases yet. I probably have enough for another investment in May, as long as I keep some left over for holiday bookings!
I went to my first AFL match of the year to see Essendon vs Melbourne. It was a pretty disappointing match as both teams turned up with poor skills, and in the end the Bombers pulled away.
I purchased an NBA league pass in time for the first round of the playoffs, about $40 for a month. I thought round one would be great in the eastern conference at least, but despite two series going to seven games most of the matches individually were not spectacular. A few other series were impacted by injures as well to make things worse.
I only saw one show at the Comedy Festival this year, another show by Lawrence Leung. I didn't know what the show was about beforehand, it was more magic with audience participation than just comedy, but still good entertainment.
My to do list is shrinking, but very slowly:
- Gold Coast Holiday
- Sadly I had to cancel the hotel booking
- There was no way I'd be ready for a half marathon in two months
- Winter Holiday
- I discovered my plan was going to overlap with
- MCC soccer tournament
- Juventus vs. Tottenham in particular
- Splendour In The Grass side shows
- Band Of Horses
- The Kills
- Summer Olympics
- The only good bands to tour all year so far!
- I moved the start date forward a week to avoid missing the Olympics at least
- Jobs
- I set up some Seek job alerts just to see what comes through for the moment
I went to Daren and Sam's wedding last week which was a good event. I only knew a few people but it wasn't too awkward. Most of the time was spent sitting around eating food, or waiting for more food to arrive. The cover band that played was a bit different, the only problem was they were a bit loud to have a conversation going at the same time. The speeches went reasonably well too.
I'm incredibly busy at work once again, we had interviews to fill a position for another developer in the team, so hopefully they can begin contributing soon - and maybe take some of the boring tasks away!
