I got back into proper running after probably a month and a half off my regular routine. My serious foot pain seems to have finally recovered on it's own, but in it's place I've been having some really weird instability and structural issues at the back of my left knee, which is even more worrying. In terms of running events:
- Jells Park Run - 19:15 for 5km, my best for the course but not a great time
- Sri Chinmoy Yarra Boulevard - 38:46 for 10km (12th place), a disappointing time and about 45 seconds off my best
- Jells Park Run - 18:43 for 5km, a much better time
To make the most of my MCC membership, since I went to very few games during the season, I made sure to at least go to the two AFL finals in Melbourne during the first week:
- Adelaide vs. Western Bulldogs
- 60,000
- Smaller crowd, got a decent seat in the upper deck
- Great match, both teams were attacking all the time
- The Bulldogs should have won, but wasted too many shots at goal
- North Melbourne vs. Richmond
- 90,000
- I got a reserved seat at ground level so I didn't have to turn up hours early
- A slower paced game, but still close
- Richmond were always struggling to catch up, despite kicking efficiently, and just lost
Jason went in my place for the grand final, for the third year in a row, since I wasn't interested in watching Hawthorn win (again).
The NFL season is back again, sadly the times don't permit me to watch any live games, since they're all on Monday, Tuesday or Friday morning. Waiting for the highlights takes some time, so I might consider getting the NFL season subscription and watching some of the condensed games instead. It's very easy to avoid the results, except for the San Francisco 49ers now that they have Jarryd Hayne playing for them.
At work there were no major disasters to return to. I took a long time to get back to a normal pattern though, I was waking up and leaving for the train station at 6:00am for the first week back!
That's about it.
